Becoming a true artist

I took a break from creating. I didn’t plan on it being this long, I just planned on taking a little break over the film festival days. That break has expanded into the two weeks that followed the festival now. I feel bad about it. This week I’ve had training every single day, and on Tuesday, during a course, I just started doodling; the pencil gliding mindlessly across the paper, lines joining together forming complex patterns as the mind listened and learned. It was during this doodling that I was struck with a strong desire—no! struck by a strong need to create again. My mind began to focus more on that need, and I quickly marked down a list of goals:
1. Blog post will be written for tomorrow
2. Vlog will be filmed for Thursday (oops)
3. Contact will be made for articles by Saturday
4. Will be back on track by the weekend
Well, I’m a little behind. This was supposed to be posted/written yesterday, and a vlog was supposed to have been up this morning. That said, as I am writing this, I am feeling remarkably better about things. Not that I was feeling down per se, I just had this hole from the lack of creation. And this is slowly but surely filling that horrid hole!
It is remarkable how important the act of creation becomes in an artist’s life. Through our work, our creations, our beloved, we are able to become closer to the world. Closer to nature. Closer to the literal and metaphorical universe! As we create, we create in ourselves an understanding that we lacked before. Through our art we become better.
A lot of artists can seem pretentious. They can seem fake. They can look like they think themselves to better men than those who do not. Those people are not true artists. They are not creating for the sake of art! They are simply creating for themselves. They create out of the vain purpose of becoming famous and known. They do not create because it is what they live to do. These fake artists and creators sully the works of those who are true! They mire the very name ARTIST in the muck of their own volition.
A true artist, what I aspire to be, creates out of a desire and a need to create. They are the ones toiling away in their small apartments, unceasingly splashing paint upon new canvases! They are the ones pounding at keyboards in the dim light, late at night. They are the ones whose pencils are constantly scratching away. They are the ones who stop and look and marvel at the skies above them. The ones that can spend hours just studying the people around them, wondering at the sights and sounds of a place they’ve been a million times before. A true artist creates because it is what they were born to do.
I want to be a true artist. I hope that I am a true artist. I know that I miss the act of creation. I know that I mourn its absence from my life. Yet I continuously place other things, other pursuits in front of it. Always I tell myself, one day, always I say, tomorrow. Never do I say, it is the day, never do I say, today.
Maybe today is the day that it changes. Maybe today is the day I bring myself to put my art first. Maybe today is the day I become a true artist.

Not waking up at 6

Apparently no one liked my post yesterday. That's just super rude guys. I shared some important stuff! But, whatever. Be like that. I'll just copy and paste it into this post. See how y'all like that. I'M KIDDING! DON'T LEAVE! This will be all new stuff! Promise!
I haven't been filming much lately, mostly because all I do during the week is drive and work, but once I get a place in the city I will be filming and posting on a more regular basis! Promise! I know you all are really missing my daily vlogs, and my general musings on life therein. I'm also considering streaming on twitch once a week once I'm in the city and have time to play video games (I am so sorry Lara, we'll [redacted] soon!) again. Just another way to expand my brand! Which was a resolution of mine, if you can remember all the way back to that post! I'm also looking at designing some shirts and stuff to sell for my vlog as well. I'm going to have so much more open time once I'm living here. I'll even be able to work on my memoir again! And work on my other writing!
I'm hoping to have a place starting next week. That's the goal. The dream if you will.
Honestly, I am so looking forward to not driving nearly 3 hours everyday. That's the biggest thing. And not waking up at 6 am everyday. I could sleep in until 7. And still have tons of time to get ready. That's the dream. Waking up at 7 instead of 6, that has become my dream. Well. Alright. I think I'm okay with that.

Sorry...

I am getting so sporadic with these posts... I'm not trying to miss them! Honest, it just happens... I've been getting home so late from work, and I've been so tired that even the thought of writing something puts me straight to sleep. I'm falling so behind! I'm sorry.
Maybe I should start posting poetry and short stories on the days I don't have time for original posts... that's probably what they call a good idea.
I guess today will just be an update on life? Sure. Why not. I'm enjoying work! It's been fun so far, and I'm getting to do some pretty cool things! The drive is super annoying, and I am still looking into finding a place to stay. But I work this week, and then I'm off for two weeks for Christmas, so there really isn't a point in getting a place there for a week right now, so I will officially start my hunt in the new year!
This is so boring, I'm putting myself to sleep. Wow.

The Canadian Way

I missed posting yesterday! I am so sorry! I just had a billion things to do, and I had to fall asleep extra early because I had to be awake extra early. I was on the road at just after 7 this morning. I had been awake for 3 hours before starting work today. I had a plan for yesterday's blog, but I think I will save it for the weekend... I don't want to rush it, so I'm not going to work on it right now, because I'm not sure how long I have...
I started work with the Film Festival today! It's been pretty good. It's a fairly laid back atmosphere here, and everyone seems to get along fairly well. We hosted a screening today, so my morning had to do with that. This afternoon I went around and talked with a few businesses, then watched two very different documentaries to see which would be the best fit for a museum in Halifax.
     Sidebar: I hate this keyboard.
I'm excited to be starting work here, less so about the drive. Today wasn't bad because the roads were perfect, and there was no fog or anything, but those conditions probably won't stick around for too long. It is winter in Saskatchewan after all. -40 has to show up eventually...
I think this will probably be it for today. Just a quick update and an apology. The Canadian Way.

Not a clickbait

I've started daily vlogging.
My friend Matt suggested I challenge myself and try it. I'm on my third day and I am loving it! It's really fun and actually kinda awesome. And it's helping me get over the awkwardness of filming in front of strangers and walking around talking to myself!
"No strange person staring at me, I'm not the crazy person! You're the crazy one!"
Good times.
I'm filming myself typing this right now, talk about pressure. I keep messing up from watching myself type? Ok. Maybe I am the crazy person.
Daily vlogging. Right, That was my topic.
It's going to be interesting seeing how I fill my days this week. Started my new job, which is essentially a desk job. I'm going to have to be extra creative with trying to make my vlogs entertaining. Which I probably need to be doing in my everyday life anyways!
And! With all this newfound free time, I'll be able to actually post on here! Yay! You guys get to listen to my thoughts and read them! How lucky are you all! I'm almost jealous. Almost.
I think that's good for this post. You guys have a great day. Or evening. Whatever it is for you.

Sitting here. Alone.

I feel kinda off today. Like I wanna cry, but I don't know exactly why? Anybody else get those days? I think I'm just super stressed about my move, and about the money situation involved with moving. Plus I'm... yeah. Finances are fun. Being an adult is totes the best. #ugh
On the bright side, I finished the final piece of Dragon Age dlc. Which only made me tear up like 5 times. And will be the last new Dragon Age stuff for a while. Shit. That's not a bright side at all. Umm....  Doctor Who starts on saturday! That's a bright side! Saved it.
Other than that, I don't really have too much to offer. It's just a normal Tuesday. I'm going to try to get some filming done, mainly because I look good today. And I almost have enough footage for a vlog. But mainly the looking good part.
Anyways,  have a good one peeps!
